Online learning platforms with full content, including automatically graded quizzes, have already breached this profession. Considering the overwhelming growth of adjunct instructors as compared to tenure-track professors, as well as other indicators of higher ed assuming the mantle of business over education, the lure of significant cost reductions through the use of minions of adjunct instructors using pre-packaged content and tools is undeniably irresistible to administrators. This likely will accelerate the diminishing use of the professoriate.
