Prepare customs documentation and ensure that shipments meet all applicable laws to facilitate the import and export of goods. Determine and track duties and taxes payable and process payments on behalf of client. Sign documents under a power of attorney. Represent clients in meetings with customs officials and apply for duty refunds and tariff reclassifications. Coordinate transportation and storage of imported goods.

this position requires soft skillss negotiation and cultural exchanges between countries and people.

Some parts already being automated with AI, many systems in place that avoid human interaction, main issues now are missing entry information ie HTS codes or OGA data-emails to ascertain that could be pretty easily automated too.

Reasonable care standard for customs. AI probably will be integrated to customs but a regulatory employee will need to sign off on any decision.
