I think the possibility is low because it would take a lot of programming, and I mean a lot. Also, it's really hard to imagine a robot playing sports like football, Basketball, Soccer, etc. So this is why I don't believe robots will play football soon.

Sports with robots should be a separate game and shouldn't be mixed in with basketball or football players.

If the world comes to a point where AI replaces sports, there will be no fun or adrenaline-rushing plays made in sports.

An AI cannot choose between passing and running when it doesn’t know anything about the defenders. An AI cannot choose which teammate to pass to in a game of hockey. An AI cannot make a game of baseball interesting. This is because AI cannot and never will have the ability to make mistakes or learn about another team outside of the game.

The only job AI can ever have in sports is keeping track of the scoreboard or selling food and drink at a concession stand.

Because even if they did they'd have to scratch the idea because of injuries and the amount people that would sue them because of it.

Humans have feelings, but robots cannot feel anything. Humans made AI by themselves, given their IQ level. Humans created many languages, and yes, robots will learn all the languages. They can also create other languages which we may never understand. However, we can create something that AI cannot understand.

Do you understand, Miss/Mr. Robot or AI? 😎

Not only would it be quite foolish but I believe it would be quite boring to watch a machine perform athletic things.

Nobody would watch a robot play football against other robots, or any other sport for that matter. Sports are created with the goal of testing human athleticism, and there's zero reason highly complicated robots would be replacing athletes in leagues created for entertainment.

As Robots & A.I become more humanlike we should be concerned about the possibilities of Robots & A.I taking over areas of our lives like sports, entertainment and other sectors that we are not considering. The fact that we're discussing it as the technologies continue to advance tells us it's possible and can go either way...

Most people who watch sport competitions want to see actual human, not robots (Assuming people still watches them, which is unlikely in the future)

Dude imagine the hitting or tackling and falling if a robot took place in sports! The bots would get messed up! It’s so not possible! I want to play in the NHL and I don’t want to be replaced by a robot! That’s BS!

I just don't see how a robot could replace a human in sports, unless there is a new branch of sports with robots or AI in it, like Real Steel.

Imagine how boring it would be if football was played by robots. The drama, emotion, and art of football can't be replaced by robots. There's absolutely no chance.
