With all of the technological advancements throughout the 20th and 21st century, ironworking is the one trade that technological advancements haven't really affected the industry. The last real advancement in technology was in the 1960's transitioning from the rivet to the TC bolts. There will always be the need for an ironworkers ingenuity and athleticism within the trade.

This industry is very labor-intensive and requires getting in tight cramped and high areas.
